The Cat Corral started at home with the two of us, our cats Fosse and Penelope, and a problem we knew all too well. We’re partners in life and adventure—and, of course, in parenting our cats. We love to travel and we’re always up for exploring somewhere new—but leaving our cats behind came with a little guilt every time.

​

The pet boarding options we found never felt quite right. We’d find places online promising spacious accommodations, only to visit in person and discover rows of small cages. Others felt clinical or crowded, with unfamiliar noise and little privacy. We always left wondering the same things: Would Fosse and Penelope feel safe here? Would someone notice if they were scared, stopped eating, or something just seemed off? Would they be truly cared for—or simply checked on?

Staying home wasn’t quite the answer either. We weren’t comfortable handing their care over to someone we barely knew, and after enough trips, we started to feel like we were asking a lot of the friends and neighbors we trusted. We loved to travel, but leaving them behind had become the part we dreaded.

Eventually, we stopped asking which option was good enough and started asking a different question:

What would it look like to create a place where we could leave our cats without the worry?

​

Fosse and Penelope couldn’t be more different, and living with them has taught us just how individual cats really are. Their routines, comforts, quirks, and personalities became the starting point for imagining something better—a place that felt warm instead of clinical, personal instead of crowded, and created entirely around cats.

We each brought something different to The Cat Corral.

​

Loren, raised in the Bay Area and a public school teacher, has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, a willingness to take chances, and a curiosity for what could be.

​

Salina, raised in Los Angeles with a background in creative management, has always loved building worlds, dreaming up ideas, and figuring out how to bring them to life.

​

The Cat Corral grew somewhere in the middle—a shared idea that could only have become what it is with both of us behind it.

​

At the heart of it all is something we believe deeply:

While you’re off exploring somewhere new, your cat gets a journey of their own—a place to settle in, discover, play, and feel completely cared for.
